Cheverny is one of the Loire's youngest appellations, created in 1993, though vines have been worked in this stretch bordering the Sologne marshes since the 6th century; appellation law requires a blend here, which is what gives the wine its particular shape — Sauvignon's snap rounded out by Chardonnay's texture. François Cazin is the reference point: old vines, yields well below the regional average, and a house practice since 1997 of bottling unfiltered, by gravity. His wines have repeatedly been named the top pick of the vintage at the Loire wine show in Angers, and it was this cuvée, not the more famous Cour-Cheverny, that first got him noticed by his American importer. As for 2025, the Cazins simply titled their harvest report \"A Nice Year\" — no April frost, a dry spring, heat from August 10th that accelerated ripening, and picking underway September 1st with fruit they called perfectly ripe and well balanced, without too much sugar.
