This one tells you both, and it's built for anyone who thinks about wine in terms of site and vintage. \"Cosecha\" means \"harvest,\" and each release is a vintage-dated blanco whose agave source changes from year to year. The 2020 comes from Pinto Blue Weber agave (named for the dark spots on its leaves) grown above 6,700 feet in red, iron-rich volcanic sandy loam at San Ignacio Cerro Gordo, Jalisco. The 2018, by contrast, came from Vista Hermosa in Michoacán. The man behind it, Enrique Fonseca, is a fourth-generation agave farmer who became a distiller almost by accident. Left with a large amount of mature agave and no buyer, Enrique bought the Tequileña distillery from Bacardi in 1989 and taught himself to distill.
