That makes it a smart way to taste Serralunga Nebbiolo without paying for, or waiting on, a Barolo. For the 2023, the grapes were hand-selected, left on their skins for about 25 days, then aged about 12 months in large French oak casks. Garesio is a young estate with a good origin story: the family started in 2010 with one Barbera vineyard, made their first few thousand bottles in a friend's cellar, and then bought their Serralunga estate around a historic cellar. Those Serralunga vineyards have been certified organic since 2016, and the family's approach in the vines is to step in as little as possible.
