Damaschito comes from a single, very old vineyard in Contrada San Martino between Maschito and Forenza — iron- and manganese-rich sandy soil that stains the ground a deep red, with layers of volcanic ash beneath. Aged eighteen months in Slavonian oak and a year in bottle before release, the 2021 is the velvet-glove side of Vulture Aglianico — perfumed and energetic, but underpinned by serious structure and a stern mineral core.
