Professional Reviews

Burghound

BH 91
"A more deeply pitched nose speaks of poached plum, black raspberry, newly turned earth and a whiff of wood toast. While the middle weight flavors are not quite as dense, they do possess both excellent energy and definition, all wrapped in a mildly austere and rustic finish that exhibits very good depth and persistence. Once again, this is a quality villages and worth considering."

What importer Rosenthal Wine Merchant has to say about this wine...

Since 2009, the Lignier family has purchased grapes from a half-hectare parcel in this well-situated cru that lies just below premier cru “Clos Sorbe” on the slope in southern Morey-Saint-Denis. The nose is sexy and open, with vivid notes of freshly turned earth and an almost Chambolle-like sense of grace. It is vibrant and delicious in the mouth, with a supple texture and generous red-spectrum fruit that fully enrobes its present but gentle tannins.

Focus On: Burgundy

Burgundy has long been the world's most famous wine region. But, underneath all the prestige, this region can be hard to get to know.

While Burgundy offers many great trophies from top producers in well-known villages like Vosne Romanee and Puligny Montrachet, it also offers excellent values to anyone willing to explore beyond the famous names. Our collection– one of the largest in the U.S. – has plenty of both!

From the very basics of Burgundy's regions and wines to the specific terroirs of individual single vineyards--
everything you need to know about Bourgogne is just a click away!
