No oak at all — a year in stainless steel and nothing else — so the fruit stays juicy and the wild edge stays sharp. 2023 was a punishing year on Etna: rain through May and June set off downy mildew, hail landed before harvest, and production here came in at around half the previous vintage, so there is less of it than usual.
