Standing at the heart of Champagne’s most recent renaissance—a celebration of micro-terroir, viticulture and cellar technique—is Anselme Selosse. Anselme’s trailblazing explorations in technique and terroir and his iconoclastic stances against all trends of dogma and standardization in the vineyards and in the cellar have energized an entire generation of growers.

The profound influence of Selosse's vision is worthy of reverence, but equally impressive are the remarkable Champagnes that give his philosophy life.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

"The NV (2012) Mareuil-su-Aÿ Sous Le Mont is fabulous. The decision to bump dosage up to 3.5 grams per liter works beautifully in giving the Mareuil a bit more mid-palate texture while also also eliminating the slightly vegetal quality that often marked previous editions. Bright and focused in the glass, with terrific energy and lovely Pinot resonance, the Mareuil possesses superb aromatic depth and plenty of character. This is the finest edition of the Mareuil yet. I loved it." -Vinous

"Based on the 2011 vintage and disgorged in March 2018, the latest release of Selosse's NV Extra Brut Grand Cru Sous le Mont—derived from a east-facing site in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ not far from the Clos des Goisses. The wine unfurls in the glass with an inviting bouquet of waxy orchard fruit, honeycomb, dried white flowers, smoke and peat. On the palate, it's full-bodied, satiny and enveloping, with a charming, gourmand profile that's simultaneously satiny and saline."

Champagne

Champagne boasts some of the world’s greatest luxury brands with Krug, Cristal and, of course, Dom Perignon. But it’s also home to hundreds of small dynamic producers—farmers who grow their own grapes (often organically) and make (often with natural methods) tiny amounts of pure and absolutely delicious wine that reflect the individual personalities of their villages and terroirs. Toast with these wines, for sure. But also treat them like the great wines they are: taste, drink, explore!
