Jean-Claude Lapalu farms organically with some biodynamics and intervenes barely at all in the cellar, and his Brouilly comes from old vines on granite with a good amount of clay, which gives this Cuvee des Fous (\"cuvee of the madmen\") real concentration and grip compared to his lighter Villages. The 2016 has had time to develop, settling into a savory, mature window. Gutsy and structured yet artfully balanced between wild earth and fruit purity.
