Jolie-Laide, Gamay Noir Barsotti Vineyard El Dorado, 2020

Available for Same Day Delivery (or Pickup) in Manhattan.

Barsotti is the go-to vineyard for the Gamay loving winemakers of California. The clusters are left whole and started by carbonic maceration, which lends its distinctive high tone appeal, then eventually crushed by foot and finished whole cluster for skin contact and extraction. Pressed to neutral barrique for a short 6 month elevage and bottled young to preserve delicate aromatics. Light fresh strawberry and crunchy floral bacchanal. Pure pleasure, best served a bit of chilled out.

What Bowler Wine has to say about this wine...

100% Gamay. Grown at high elevation in granite soil, one batch of grapes are picked at the beginning of harvest while a second batch are picked later to develop a unique flavor and structure. Following whole cluster carbonic maceration, grapes are still left on the skins and crushed by foot. Spending 6 months in neutral oak, the wine is bottled on the earlier side in order to develop balance, lightness and a slight acidity. The wine is indicative of the warmer region giving off red fruit and soft herbal tones.
