Lara Rocchetti and Luisa Sala grew up in Turin, away from wine country. The name Lalú is just the first syllables of their first names put together. They met at the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo and wrote a joint thesis on designing a carbon-neutral winery. Then they learned the trade the hard way, working harvests at Trediberri, Reva and Conterno-Fantino, plus stints in Burgundy at Domaine Lafon and with Cécile Tremblay. The person they credit most for what they know about vineyards and the cellar is Dominique Lafon. Their Langhe Nebbiolo is made in small quantities from a half-hectare parcel in La Morra's Roncaglie cru, which was their first vineyard (from 2015), and from Bussia Bovi in Monforte.
