Brane-Cantenac has some of the best terroir in the entire Medoc. Their largest parcel is on the famed "Plateau de Brane," where gravel can be up to 12 meters deep. This gravel is the key to the wine's exceptionally fine texture and mineral depth. While Brane-Cantenac is a prime example of traditional, terroir-expressive Margaux, the grand vin requires about 15-20 years to hit its true drinking window. Baron de Brane is far more approachable in youth. It's still a very serious wine, but sees only 20% new oak, and is sourced from vats selected for their more open and supple personalities.Quite simply, Baron de Brane is a second wine which puts many other grand vins from Margaux to shame.
