His approach combines rigorous scientific understanding with a strong sensory and emotional connection to wine. He is particularly recognized for redefining terroir studies through the concept of scale, emphasizing the importance of micro-terroir units within vineyards.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAlongside his consulting work, Pedro Parra is also the founder of Pedro Parra y Familia, one of the most distinctive terroir-driven winery projects in South America. Created in southern Chile, the project represents the personal and philosophical synthesis of his life’s work in geology, viticulture and wine.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFocused primarily on old-vine Cinsault, País and other Mediterranean varieties grown on granite soils in the Itata region, the wines seek to express what Parra calls “rock wines” — wines defined not by power or extraction, but by texture, tension, minerality and energy. The project is deeply connected to the historic dry-farmed vineyards of southern Chile, many planted more than a century ago and cultivated by small traditional growers.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eRather than pursuing ripeness or concentration, Pedro Parra y Familia focuses on purity, transparency and site expression. Farming and winemaking are intentionally minimalist, aiming to preserve the identity of each vineyard and geological formation.
