The 2012 vintage received Montalcino's top five-star rating despite—or because of—challenging conditions: a hot spring, rainless summer, and three days of intense Saharan sirocco winds produced the smallest crop in a decade but extraordinary concentration. Aged 36 months in Allier oak followed by bottle aging, this Brunello displays fresh cherry, black currant, and raspberry with velvety texture and soft tannins balanced by pronounced minerality.
