The 1999 is a classical, structured Sangiovese vintage from old plantings (1968 onward), aged a year in Allier barrique and a year in large Slavonian oak — the slow, traditional Montevertine recipe. Now in full maturity, expect red fruits, dried cherry, anise, leather, road tar and forest floor, with the medium body and bright, savory acidity that Sangiovese delivers only when grown like this and given time.
