The Roundstone Blanc is a white blend of drought-resistant Mediterranean and South African heritage varieties (Macabeu, Chenin Blanc, Grenache Blanc, Clairette Blanche, Roussanne, Verdelho, Vermentino and Assyrtiko) from newer plantings at Roundstone that channels the rugged Swartland: orchard and stone fruit, dried herbs, a thread of fynbos and salt, a long mineral close. The Mullineuxs were among the first to argue (loudly, correctly) that Swartland Chenin belongs on lists alongside top white Burgundy and Loire Chenin, and this estate cuvée is proof of concept.
