Burgenland is home to some of our favorite reds — Austria's indigenous grapes are under-the-radar gems. The 'Anita' is a blend of Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch and Saint Laurent, and in the capable hands of Hans and Anita Nittnaus, these three grapes join forces to create a complex yet quaffable wine. Zweigelt brings the pepper and the spice, Blau brings the juicy dark fruit, and Saint Laurent helps to liven things up with fresh acidity. Suave enough to drink on its own, yet concentrated enough to pair with grilled or roasted meat.
