The 1996 is fully botrytized Chenin Blanc from Coteaux du Layon, reaching the kind of sugar concentration (around 530 g\/L of residual) that puts it in conversation with the great sweet wines of the world. Twenty-nine years on, this is fully mature: quince paste, candied tangerine, pomelo zest, honey, dried apricot, beeswax, deepened by tertiary notes of saffron and roasted nut. The Loire minerality keeps it from ever feeling heavy.
