Biodynamically-grown Pinot Noir in red shallow soils that are actually located in Meursault, but in the Santenots vineyard that may produce Volnay when the wines are red. This is a truly lovely Burgundy, and a Burghound "Sweet Spot".

Pierre Morey is a towering figure in Meursault. Along with his own prime vineyards he was also the winemaker at Domaine Leflaive in the 1980's and early '90's. He was one of the first growers in the region to fully embrace biodynamic farming, converting both Leflaive and his own domaine and reaching full certification by 1997. Now his daughter, Anne Morey, has taken the healm and is continuing on the path he started. She is a very intelligent, passionate and gracious person and her talents in the vineyard and cellar are exceptional.

Burghound

BH 92
"A cool pure and elegant nose offers up more elegant and much spicier aromas of red cherry cassis violet and anise. There is both good volume and intensity to the nicely concentrated medium weight flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the much more complex and persistent bitter cherry-inflected finish. Lovely."

"The 2017 Volnay 1er Cru Les Santenots is a definite success displaying attractive aromas of plums wild berries dried flowers and a judicious framing of creamy new oak. On the palate the wine is medium-bodied ample and satiny with nice depth and dimension at the core tangy balancing acids and a pleasing sense of completeness. It's a charming Santenots that will drink well in its youth."
