Long bottle aging is the entire point. The 1999 Clos des Chenes is a textbook expression of that philosophy: Clos des Chenes is one of Volnay's three most famous 1er Crus (alongside Caillerets and Champans), and 1999 was a generous, warm Burgundy vintage with plenty of stuffing to age. The wine arrives now in full bloom, requiring no further cellaring — dried red cherry, rose, autumn leaf, sweet tobacco, forest floor, leather, the silken Volnay texture fully resolved.
