It's the family's DOC Classico bottling, which makes it a great entry point into a house that also makes sparkling Verdicchio, a Superiore and two Riservas, all from the same grape. The fruit comes from 31 hectares of hillside vineyards near Poggio San Marcello in the Marche, Italy's central Adriatic region. The vines sit at 300 to 350 metres on medium-textured, slightly calcareous soils, facing east, south and south-west. Ferruccio Sartarelli, a baker turned entrepreneur, founded the winery in 1972. His daughter Donatella and son-in-law Patrizio built it up, and their children Tommaso and Caterina are now the third generation, working with old Verdicchio clones the family selected from their own old vineyards. The family credits two things for this wine's style: soft pressing and careful temperature control during fermentation. Nothing more complicated than that, and it shows in how fresh the wine is.","brand":"T.
