This village bottling draws on 3.90 hectares of parcels on the right bank of the little Rhoin river, on moderately deep white limestone and clay, with vines planted between 1965 and 1978 - old enough to give real depth, and blended across enough sites to show the village as a whole rather than one corner of it. Domaine Simon Bize, now run by Chisa Bize, makes it the way it makes everything: substantial whole-cluster fermentation, indigenous yeasts, little or no new oak on the village reds, no fining or filtering as a rule. 2023 was generous and healthy for Pinot Noir in the Cote de Beaune, giving perfumed, transparent reds with saline freshness.
