Chateau Tronquoy-Lalande, Saint-Estephe, 2014

$39.99
Available for Same Day Delivery (or Pickup) in Manhattan.

With a Merlot-dominant assembalge, Tronquoy-Lalande is a little more approachable than most Saint-Estephes. In other words, you don't have to wait twenty years to drink it – probably more like ten. That said, this 2014 is already starting to relax a little bit if you're looking for something to drink tonight. From a vintage which was very favorable to this part of the Medoc.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

"Just as expressive from bottle as it was from barrel, the 2014 Tronquoy-Lalande is superb. Black cherry, plum, gravel, smoke, savory herbs, licorice and expressive floral notes abound in a rich, deeply textured Saint-Estèphe that will drink well with minimal cellaring. The plush, textured finish only adds to the wine's considerable appeal. Drink this pliant, expressive Saint-Estèphe over the next 15-20 years or more. This is a stellar showing. The blend is 56 % Merlot, 37 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 6 % Petit Verdot and 1 % Cabernet Franc. Tasted three times." -Vinous

"Tasted blind. Nuanced, deep crimson. Rich and sweet with zest, but above all, lots of freshness. Very dry finish again. Needs lots of time."

Decanter

"From the same team as Château Montrose, this is always a great wine, full of finesse and drama. This is very good quality, with a lovely rich, deep texture with sexy, ripe fruit. The alcohol is perhaps the highest of the appellation in this vintage, but it's balanced. 1% Cabernet Franc rounds out the blend."

Wine Spectator

"A pure, racy version, with an iron-edged frame that keeps the red currant and damson plum fruit very focused. Mouthwatering tobacco and wet pebble accents are inlaid on the pleasantly austere finish. Well done."

Wine Enthusiast

"Fruit forward, this wine shows ripe blackberries and dark plums on the palate. It exudes a richness that is contrasted by intense acidity and lifted fruit flavors."
