Vasse Felix makes all its Chardonnay the same way. That means wild yeast, unclarified juice and French barriques, so the only thing separating the bottlings is where the grapes grow. Filius draws on sites across Margaret River, on deep gravel loam over clay, chosen for clones that naturally give lighter, more elegant fruit. For 2025 the grapes were picked selectively, pressed as whole berries, fermented entirely with wild yeast and aged in French oak, finishing at a trim 12.5% alcohol. The result is a vibrant, modern Chardonnay with savoury complexity and a soft, textured middle. It's an easy way into one of Australia's benchmark Chardonnay houses, founded by Dr Tom Cullity in 1967.
