Christoph farms 5 hectares in the middle of this vineyard. Full of iron-rich clay, similar to the Eisenberg, but with all the benefits of a midslope position (better airflow, drainage and sunlight). Another gorgeous expression of the variations of terroir of the cool Eisenberg region. Raspberries, boisenberries, stone, spicy and a whiff of violet high tones.

"Dark in its cherry color, Christoph Wachter's 2019 Blaufränkisch Ried Weinberg is quite leathery and volatile on the elegant nose that is reminiscent of black tea and ripe blackberries. Silky and full-bodied on the palate, with juicy, mouth-filling fruit and fine tannins, this is a powerful, voluminous and possibly low-sulfured Blaufränkisch with a certain brittle nature and Brettanomyces notes on the full-bodied, fruit-intensive finish that is quite astringent and untamed. 13.5% stated alcohol." -Stephan Reinhardt
