Walter Scott, Pinot Noir Freedom Hill, 2022
is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
Freedom Hill Vineyard is one of the Willamette Valley’s great Pinot Noir sources, known for producing wines with backbone and savory complexity. Walter Scott’s 2022 bottling comes from older vines grown on marine sedimentary soils, which lend the wine a darker, spicier profile than the estate’s volcanic-soil sites. The wine is fermented with native yeasts and partial whole clusters, then aged in neutral and lightly used French oak, giving it lift and transparency.
In 2022, the wine shows a core of black cherry, dark plum, and forest floor, laced with notes of spice, dried herbs, and graphite. The texture is firm but polished, with fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity holding everything in balance. It’s a Pinot that walks the line between structure and elegance, made to age gracefully for 7–12 years.
Pair it with roast duck, grilled mushrooms, or rich lentil dishes, or decant in its youth to enjoy the savory complexity up front. A perfect bottle for fans of Oregon Pinot with depth and gravitas.
