Limestone is the other half of the equation: it's what separates Keller's wines from the rest of Germany, pushing the aromatics floral rather than peachy the way Mosel slate does. 2023 gave Keller a near-perfect hand — must weights down and acidity two to three grams higher than the year before — and he calls the vintage outstanding. Yields came in at a tiny 31 hectoliters per hectare.
