The slope is very steep: weathered Devonian slate with clay, sitting over a large water table. Graach's natural springs keep the vines watered even in the driest years. To many of us, Willi Schaefer is the platonic ideal of Mosel Riesling. It's a family estate that goes back centuries and makes nothing but Riesling, from steep slate with ungrafted vines up to 100 years old.
