Bertrand grew up in Fleurie as a vigneron's son, went off to study commerce and work in wine bars, and came home to learn from Jean Foillard, Yvon Métras and Jacques Neauport, Jules Chauvet's quiet right hand; he is now a cult name himself, and these bottles do not sit around. 2024 was hard-won — downy mildew and a violent hailstorm took a little under half the crop — but the wines came in with a low pH that recalls a vintage like 2014, which is exactly the cool, high-tension register this perfumed style thrives in.
