Left Grenache Wines

Founded in 1992 by Pedro Peciña Crespo and his three sons, Bodegas Pecina owns 50 hectares in the small section of La Rioja Alta located on north side of the Ebro River. Pedro was previously vineyard manager of famed bodega La Rioja Alta, so here you get experience and tradition without the price tag typically attached.

"A more modern Gran Reserva from a single vineyard, the 2015 Finca Iscorta de Peciña Gran Reserva was produced with the grapes from a 50-year-old vineyard, fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel with a moderate extraction and short-ish maceration. It matured in used American oak barrels for four years and was racked every six months. It's a little darker, the color and the fruit profile, and it's intensely balsamic, with notes of camphor and abundant spicy notes. It's solid and seamless and fills your mouth; it's powerful with 15% alcohol and 6.2 grams of acidity, ripe but balanced." -Robert Parker

VINEYARD
Single vineyard named Finca Iscorta. The vineyard is a total of 8 hectares and only the best fruit goes to this bottling. The vines are on average 50 years old and bush pruned.
SOIL

Practicing organics and sustainability. They work in a very natural way.
VINIFICATION
The grapes are destemmed and crushed and fermented naturally with wild yeast in stainless steel tanks.
AGING
The wine ages in used American oak for 4 years with 8 manual rackings (every 6 months). The wine further ages a minimum of 3 year in bottle before being released to the market. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered.
