The Huré Frères Champagne Brut Rosé ‘L’Insouciance’ NV (2021 base) is an expressive and elegant rosé Champagne from the Montagne de Reims. Crafted by the Huré family, known for their meticulous attention to detail and respect for terroir, this cuvée is a blend of 50% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay, and 20% Pinot Meunier. The addition of 5% still red wine from old Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier vines in the Premier Cru village of Ludes contributes to its delicate color and red-fruited character. Vinified with 92% in stainless steel and 8% in barrels, the wine undergoes partial malolactic fermentation and is aged on lees for two years before disgorgement with a dosage of 3.5 g/L, creating a vibrant Extra Brut style.

On the nose, this Champagne reveals enticing aromas of citrus blossom, red berries, and a hint of fresh bread, underpinned by subtle minerality. On the palate, it is lively and structured, with flavors of strawberry and raspberry framed by bright acidity and a fine mousse. A crisp, mineral-driven finish highlights the wine’s chalky terroir and refreshing elegance.

This versatile rosé pairs beautifully with pork tenderloin, seared tuna, or creamy cheeses like Brie, and it also makes a delightful aperitif. While accessible now for its bright fruit and lively texture, the Huré Frères ‘L’Insouciance’ NV (2021 base) will continue to charm over the next 2–3 years with additional complexity. It is a standout example of the thoughtful craftsmanship and terroir-driven focus of the Huré family.

Champagne

Champagne boasts some of the world’s greatest luxury brands with Krug, Cristal and, of course, Dom Perignon. But it’s also home to hundreds of small dynamic producers—farmers who grow their own grapes (often organically) and make (often with natural methods) tiny amounts of pure and absolutely delicious wine that reflect the individual personalities of their villages and terroirs. Toast with these wines, for sure. But also treat them like the great wines they are: taste, drink, explore!
