Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou, Saint-Julien, 2021
is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
In a vintage that favored restraint and classic structure, Château Ducru-Beaucaillou leaned into its strengths—old vines, deep gravel soils, and meticulous vineyard work—to craft a 2021 that speaks with clarity and composure. One of the most iconic estates in Saint-Julien, Ducru has long been known for wines that marry power with finesse, and this bottling is no exception—though here, finesse takes the lead.
The blend skews toward Cabernet Sauvignon, giving the wine structure, dark fruit, and a graphite backbone. Aromas of blackcurrant, violet, cedar, and crushed rock rise from the glass, while the palate is cool, linear, and deeply mineral, with ultra-fine tannins and bright acidity that hint at serious aging potential. There's less density than in warmer years, but more transparency—this is a wine for classicists.
Drink it in 8–10 years, or cellar longer for true elegance to emerge. Ducru 2021 is Bordeaux with restraint, polish, and place at its core.
