Emrich-Schönleber is one of the defining estates of the Nahe, crafting Rieslings that combine intensity with finesse. Mineral Trocken is their calling card for terroir-driven precision, sourced from steep, slate-rich vineyards that give the wine its name. The 2023 vintage, shaped by a long, even growing season, captures everything that makes Nahe Riesling special—purity, structure, and a sense of place.

Crisp green apple, Meyer lemon, and white peach lead the way, underpinned by a crystalline minerality that gives the wine incredible focus. The palate is taut and linear, driven by high acidity yet balanced by just enough fruit ripeness to keep it harmonious. Unlike broader, more opulent Rieslings from the Pfalz or Rheingau, Mineral Trocken stays lifted and precise, making it a benchmark for lovers of dry, stony German whites.

A natural match for fresh seafood, sushi, or light vegetable dishes, this is a Riesling that sings with food. Enjoy it now for its youthful energy, or cellar for 5–7 years to watch its complexity deepen. A pure, unfiltered expression of Nahe brilliance.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

AG 90
"The 2023 Riesling Mineral trocken comes from Monzingen, including the Niederberg's blue slate and quartzite. Lightness and citric verve are clear from the first sniff of stony, lemony brightness. The light palate has an inner zestiness with much grapefruit and tangerine alongside just a little pith. This is a serious and taut wine; it is super-slender but, oh, so zesty. This is an exquisite wine of a real Nahe character that punches above its weight." -Anne Krebiehl MW

German Wines

Is there a better grape than Riesling? Is there a better value? Its fruit purity, its perfume, and its mineral nuance are all unparalleled. And for centuries, the top German Rieslings were priced accordingly: at least as expensive as the top red wines of Bordeaux and Burgundy. But nowadays you could spend a lifetime exploring Germany’s great Riesling-producing regions while staying well within your budget. You might take an occasional break to try Germany’s other white grapes or perhaps a glass of Spätburgunder (the local name for Pinot Noir). It’s time to get started!
