Keller is, without a doubt, the Rheinhessen’s greatest address – and one of the most beloved in all of Germany. Their fame can be traced to their culty (and sometimes wildly expensive) dry Rieslings, culled from limestone-dominated soils, which critics have compared to the great Grand Crus of Burgundy for their power and precision.

Professional Reviews

Decanter

D 95
"The Kellers have owned vines in the Hubacker's yellow limestone soils since 1789, and they're usually the last to be harvested. This is the most exotic and aromatically brooding of Keller's 2015s, with a complex bouquet of papaya, green apple, caremelised citrus, iodine and complex smoky, spicy top notes. On the palate the wine is deep, racy and concentrated with a touch more texture than the Kirchspeil."

German Wines

Is there a better grape than Riesling? Is there a better value? Its fruit purity, its perfume, and its mineral nuance are all unparalleled. And for centuries, the top German Rieslings were priced accordingly: at least as expensive as the top red wines of Bordeaux and Burgundy. But nowadays you could spend a lifetime exploring Germany’s great Riesling-producing regions while staying well within your budget. You might take an occasional break to try Germany’s other white grapes or perhaps a glass of Spätburgunder (the local name for Pinot Noir). It’s time to get started!
