The Glenlivet 15 Year Old “French Oak Reserve” is matured first in traditional American oak, then finished in Limousin French oak casks, which contribute delicate spice and a creamy, velvety mouthfeel without overpowering the distillery’s signature elegance.
On the nose, expect ripe pear, honeycomb, and subtle nutmeg, followed by a palate of apple tart, almond cream, cinnamon, and toasty oak, all carried by a medium-bodied, smooth texture. The French oak adds a touch of refined tannin and sweetness, giving it more weight and depth than the classic 12 Year Old, but without leaning into the heavier, smoky territory of some Highland or Islay malts.
It’s ideal neat or with a small splash of water, and makes a great pairing with mild cheeses, honey-roasted nuts, or crème brûlée.
