Fontodi's 2018 Filetta Di Lamole

"The 2018 harvest will lead to a five-star vintage for Chianti Classico wines, according to Giovanni Manetti"
- Decanter

"The 2018s are gracious wines of immense pleasure... the 2018s are incredibly delicious. The purity of the flavors in so many 2018s is just striking.
"
- Galloni, discussing the 2018 Chianti Classico's in Vinous

Fontodi is one of the true titans of Tuscan wine. And while they're widely known for their stunning Chianti Classico and the highly collectible Flaccianello and Vigna del Sorbo from the commune of Panzano, it's their higher elevation Chianti Classico from Lamole that's really been turning heads the last few years.

We recently had a chance to taste through the entire 2018 lineup (You can also shop all Fontodi.) and they were all spectacular, but the Lamole really stood out. It's leaner and fresher than their flagship Chianti Classico from Panzano.
With nervy and bright cherry fruit, floral aromatics that practically leap out of the glass and refined tannins, its perfectly at home on a late summer afternoon with a slight chill and a juicy grilled ribeye!

At 600 meters above sea level, Lamole is one of Chianti’s coolest sub-zones. The soils are mostly sandstone and the wine’s balance shifts decidedly away from Panzano’s sunshine and towards the cool, mountain airs of Lamole — perfect for retaining freshness in warmer vintages.
As global warming continues to threaten traditionally ideal growing areas, cooler sites like Lamole are receiving more and more attention for their ability to consistently produce fresh and classically styled wines.

One day soon these wines will be as hard to get as the top wines are today. But for now not only can we offer them — we can even offer a special 6-bottle price.

The wines are in stock now and with today's deep discounts you can afford to open a few this summer and enjoy the rest over the next few years.
