From the steep, rocky slopes of Heiligenstein, one of Kamptal’s most celebrated vineyards, Bründlmayer’s Ried Zobinger Heiligenstein Riesling 2021 is a wine that captures both the power and the elegance of Riesling in its purest form. This 1 OTW bottling highlights the region’s incredible terroir, where the balance of acidity, fruit, and minerality is perfected by careful, traditional winemaking.

The nose opens with an explosion of bright citrus—lemon, lime, and grapefruit—accompanied by the fresh vibrancy of green apple and hints of white peach. A delicate floral lift adds an extra layer of complexity, while a subtle mineral note hints at the distinctive slate and granite soils. On the palate, the wine is as refreshing as it is precise. The racy acidity gives it lift and focus, while the fruit shines through with energy and depth. The finish is clean and dry, with a lingering mineral character that brings the wine to a long, focused close.

This Riesling is a perfect match for light seafood dishes, fresh salads, or goat cheese. While it’s drinking beautifully now, its fresh acidity and mineral backbone suggest it will evolve gracefully over the next several years. Bründlmayer’s Ried Zobinger Heiligenstein 2021 is an outstanding example of Kamptal Riesling, offering both vibrancy and complexity in every sip.

Among the greatest estates in Austria and arguably among the very greatest white-wine producers in the entire world. Quality has gradually increased even further, under the watchful eye of Andreas Wickhoff, MW, who took the helm from Willi Bründlmayer in 2014.

The entry level wines are the purest examples of straight-up Kamptal Riesling and Grüner you could hope for. But the fancier bottlings are truly next level transmitting the multi-faced soil, aspect, elevation and micro climates throughout the Kamptal. The estate is always pushing the boundaries of what one could expect from their vines and with great effect.
