Founded in 1934 by Pietro De Martino, an Italian immigrant from Abruzzo, this estate is now run by the third and fourth generations of the family. De Martino was the first Chilean winery to label a wine as Carmenère (1996), became organic in 1998, and was the first Chilean winery to achieve carbon neutrality (2009). The Santa Inés Estate in Isla de Maipo spans 280 hectares. Legado comes from an alluvial terrace with vines 22-28 years old, fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel and aged in older barrique and foudres.

"The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva Legado from Isla de Maipo was aged for ten months in foudres. Garnet red with a purple sheen. The nose presents refined notes of black currant and hints of pepper over a bed of sour cherry and bell pepper. Delicate in the mouth, with full, fruity flavor and polished tannins; the freshness is precise and juicy. An easygoing style reminiscent of 1980s reds." -Vinous
