Crisp, Cool Climate Chardonnay for Every Palate: Day Wines' Eola Springs

Brianne Day went from juggling waitressing and various wine jobs in 2013 to becoming a tour-de-force on the Oregon wine scene in just a few years. Her 2021 Eola Springs Chardonnay is everything we love about her wines: it's vibrant with the shimmering acidity that trademarks Oregon Chardonnay, and layered thanks to Brianne's meticulously nerdy approach to the sites she chooses.

Delving into the beautiful Eola Spring vineyard's diversity, Brianne chose three different blocks and three different clones for this Chardonnay cuvée: Hyde Wente and Mount Eden (classic California heritage clones) and Chardonnay 96 (a Dijon clone). She picks the Hyde Wente and Mount Eden early to preserve structure and acidity, while the Dijon 96, well suited to this cooler climate, can hang a little longer to deliver developed layers of fruit.

2021, a cool and pretty year full of elegance, is one of our favorite recent Willamette Valley vintages. Better yet, after constantly having to tell Oregon Chardonnay lovers they have to wait on the new releases or risk drinking them prematurely, we're delighted to finally offer an example with five years of age — and at killer pricing!

Day Wines, Chardonnay Eola Springs Vineyard, 2021 $39.99
