Chartogne-Taillet, a leading grower-producer in Merfy, crafts some of the most terroir-expressive Champagnes in the Montagne de Reims. Cuvée Sainte Anne, their flagship bottling, is a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Meunier sourced from the village’s sand- and clay-laced limestone soils. The 2021 base brings a cooler, more linear profile to this already mineral-focused Champagne, highlighting purity and tension.

Crisp green apple, pear, and lemon curd lead, layered with subtle brioche, crushed chalk, and a whisper of hazelnut. The fine mousse and racy acidity give it a sleek, elegant frame, while a long, saline-driven finish leaves a lasting impression. Equally at home as an apéritif or paired with oysters, roasted poultry, or creamy cheeses, this is a Champagne that overdelivers on both complexity and drinkability. A stunning introduction to Chartogne-Taillet’s singular style.

After a stage with Antoine Selosse, Alexandre Chartogne returned to the family estate and turned it upside down. He spent years experimenting and tinkering with every aspect of Champagne making from vine management to vessels. He's landed back where he says his ancestors started: in the vineyards, growing perfect fruit and aging in neutral oak.

Champagne

Champagne boasts some of the world’s greatest luxury brands with Krug, Cristal and, of course, Dom Perignon. But it’s also home to hundreds of small dynamic producers—farmers who grow their own grapes (often organically) and make (often with natural methods) tiny amounts of pure and absolutely delicious wine that reflect the individual personalities of their villages and terroirs. Toast with these wines, for sure. But also treat them like the great wines they are: taste, drink, explore!
