Grand Cru Grower Champagne from Flatiron Favorite Pierre Péters
The NV Brut Cuvée de Réserve Grand Cru is fabulous

It’s been some time since we’ve been able to offer this wine in our newsletter — the demand far outstrips the supply, but we’ve managed to wrangle a nice parcel to share with you today.
Pierre Péters is one of Champagne’s most recognizable names, and one of its most famous Growers (Check out our handy guide to Grower Champagne). The estate is named after current proprietor Rodolphe Péters’ grandfather, and the family has been working vines in the Côte des Blancs’ best terroirs for nearly two centuries.
The estate’s flagship wine, their non-vintage Cuvée de Reserve, comes from rarified soils in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Avize, and Cramant, with the majority coming from Mesnil. We don’t normally find non-vintage Champagnes from exclusively grand cru sites, but here we are! Over half of the blend, roughly 55%, comes from a perpetual reserve dating from the late ‘80s; the rest comes from the current vintage (the racy 2021 in this case).
Pierre Peters, Champagne Brut Blanc de Blancs 'Cuvée de Reserve', NV $76.99
“For an introduction into the range of Pierre Péters, the NV Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Cuvée de Réserve is the perfect choice. It's based on the incisive 2021 vintage and completed by a 50% component of the perpetual blend, aged in a variety of vessels (stainless steel tanks, large oak casks and concrete). This is the most floral wine in the range, wafting from the glass with aromas of honeysuckle, citrus fruit, acacia and beeswax. Shaped by the high-acid vintage profile, expect a bright, lightly structured Champagne laden with racy acids and a focused finish. It was disgorged in May 2024 with a dosage of six grams per liter.” Kristaps Karklins, Wine Advocate
