Peter Lauer is an eighth-generation Saar estate producing some of Germany's most crystalline, precise Rieslings. The steep slate slopes of Ayl create wines of laser focus and mineral intensity that stand apart even in the Mosel's exceptional landscape. This "Ayler No. 1" is an off-dry style (feinherb) that balances residual sweetness with racy acidity—a hallmark of cool-climate Saar Riesling. The 2024 vintage was challenging (frosts, disease pressure, small yields), but delivered wines of exceptional freshness, pronounced fruit, and elevated aromatics. A VDP member estate since 2013.
