Luciano Sandrone is one of Barolo's undeniable superstars. With the Langhe in his blood, Luciano began working the vines around his family home in his teenage years. He's taken some liberties with the region's traditions — for instance, he prefers a slightly shorter maceration — but always honors the exquisite terroir and the local grape varieties. Techniques like organic viticulture (practicing, but not certified), low yields and vinification in large, neutral vessels, Sandrone showcases the purity of the fruit and the land.

"The 2017 Barolo Le Vigne is rich, pliant and so expressive. Even so, I imagine it will need a few years to open up fully. Bright red fruit, rose petal, blood orange and spice give the 2017 its distinctly red-toned profile. Elegant and translucent, the 2017 is very nicely balanced.
