From the cool, wind-swept slopes of Austria’s Leithaberg, Prieler’s Pinot Blanc 2019 offers a refined expression of this often-overlooked varietal. The Leithaberg DAC, a renowned wine-growing region, provides the perfect combination of clay and limestone soils, allowing Pinot Blanc to develop its delicate character and vibrant acidity.

The 2019 vintage is marked by its freshness, opening with aromas of crisp citrus—lemon and green apple—alongside hints of white flowers and a faint minerality that speaks to the terroir. On the palate, the wine is smooth yet vibrant, with a well-defined structure that showcases its natural acidity, giving it a refreshing and crisp mouthfeel. The finish is clean, with lingering notes of citrus zest and a mineral edge that makes it feel light yet deeply satisfying.

Prieler’s Leithaberg DAC Pinot Blanc 2019 is a versatile wine, perfect as an aperitif or paired with seafood, light poultry dishes, or creamy cheeses. Its balance of freshness, elegance, and minerality makes it an ideal choice for those who appreciate the understated beauty of Austrian whites. Whether enjoyed now or with a few years of aging, this wine is a testament to the purity and precision of the Leithaberg terroir.

Georg takes his role as farmer and winemaker of his family domain very seriously, but has an easy laugh and relaxed manner. Blaufränkisch, the Burgenland's terroir-transparent grape, is the crown jewel of the estate and given several single vineyard bottlings. Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay, Burgundian varietals, which have a centuries long history in the region are their main whites. Farming is practicing organic and cellar work is hands off with fermentation and aging in large, neutral, traditional Slovenian oak casks.
