We are so excited to announce a Chablis masterclass presented by Adrian Chalk of Adrian Chalk Selections, featuring the wines of Brocard. Adrian will join us at 6pm on Wednesday, September 24 on the mezzanine to present his in-depth knowledge of iconic Chablis, arguably the most terroir-defined region in the wine world.

Adrian's career in the wine trade started over three decades ago as a sweat-equity partner at Chateau Routas in Provence. A tasting and lunch in 1993 with Robert Parker led to great reviews and to a position with Lauber Imports. In 2011 he created his own company, Adrian Chalk Selections, and then joined MS Walker in 2015. He represents two dozen family-owned vineyards.

For this seminar he will focus on the outstanding wines of Brocard. The soils are here anchored in Jurassic chalk and, most notably, Kimmeridgian Clay, the terroir most intertwined with Chablis in the minds of wine lovers. The estate started making wine in 1970 from a vineyard planted just after WWII at the base of the Sainte Claire church in Prehy, 5 miles south of the town of Chablis itself. Jean-Marc and his son Julien have 200 hectares today, farming the largest certified-organic vineyard estate in Burgundy (a third of it is also farmed biodynamically).

The cost of this seminar is $50 and a $20 credit at the store will be extended to each guest for a future purchase. Seating is limited and special pricing on the featured wines will be made available to attendees only. We hope you can join us on the mezzanine at 6pm on Wednesday, September 24 for this special evening.

Anthony Lynch (son of legendary importer Kermit Lynch) came to New York last week and brought a few special bottles from their Berkeley cellar to lunch, including 2007 Vacqueyras Le Sang des Cailloux and Thierry Allemand’s 2005 Cornas Reynard. But the surprise winner with the food was a Corsican red, the 2020 Antoine Arena Patrimonio Rouge, "Morta Maio.”

Luxury Burgundy Wine for All: Lafarge's Iconic Passetoutgrains

Perhaps the only thing we love more than Burgundy Pinot Noir is Burgundy Pinot Noir blended with Gamay, a style of wine known as Passetoutgrains. The best examples combine the elegance and structure of Pinot Noir with the playful, juicy character of Gamay — truly the best of both worlds.
