J Vignier, Champagne Pur Cramant Grand Cru Lieu-Dit Les Fourches Extra Brut, 2016
is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
What is this wine?
J. Vignier is a grower Champagne estate in Cramant, run by Nathalie Vignier, whose family has cultivated vines in the Côte des Blancs for generations. The domaine specializes in terroir-focused, low-dosage Blanc de Blancs Champagnes. Pur Cramant comes from a single lieu-dit, Les Fourches, in the Grand Cru village of Cramant—one of Champagne’s most celebrated sites for Chardonnay. The 2016 vintage is vinified and aged with long lees contact, then bottled as Extra Brut to showcase purity and minerality.
Why get this wine?
Single-vineyard Cramant Champagnes are rare, and J. Vignier’s meticulous farming and minimal-intervention winemaking make this bottling a true insider’s choice. It offers Grand Cru character and vintage specificity at a fraction of the price of more famous Côte des Blancs producers, while delivering the same chalk-driven elegance.
What does this wine taste like?
Precise and mineral, with lemon zest, green apple, and white peach layered over chalk, almond, and subtle brioche. The Extra Brut dosage keeps it taut, vibrant, and focused, with a long saline finish.
When should you drink this wine?
Excellent now for its freshness and energy, but capable of aging 5–10 years to develop richer brioche and hazelnut notes. A perfect match for oysters, sashimi, or elegant seafood dishes. Serve well chilled.
