Vincent Paris discovered his passion for winemaking after leaving carpentry in 1997 with just one inherited hectare in Cornas. Now commanding ten hectares across the Northern Rhône's most prestigious appellations, Paris has built a reputation as one of the Rhône's finest Syrah craftsmen, rivaling legendary producers like Clape and Allemand. His winemaking reveals terroir through minimal intervention: destemming is variable by parcel, fermentation is natural, and aging occurs in old barrels—no new oak. The Granit 60 (named for the 60% granite composition of this parcel) comes from south-facing, mid-slope vineyards where granite-rich soils impart minerality and tension. This 2016, at eight years old, is entering its prime—showing the power and refinement that emerge from Paris's patient aging regimen. Dark fruit, mineral structure, and subtle spice characterize the palate, with the silky tannins that distinguish Cornas at its finest. Ready to drink now with food or cellar for another 8-12 years as secondary complexity develops.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

AG 95
"Inky ruby. Smoke-accented black and blue fruits, licorice and olive on the intensely perfumed nose. Plush, sweet and broad on the palate, offering sweet blackberry, cassis and spicecake flavors that are energized by a vein of juicy acidity. Shows excellent depth as well as energy and finishes extremely long and smooth; rounded tannins build steadily and add shape and gentle grip to the lush, creamy dark fruit." -Josh Raynolds

"Tasted from tank prior to bottling, the 2016 Cornas Granit 60 has the potential to eclipse the 2015. The nose is an exciting blend of flowers, minerals and fruit, while the palate is full-bodied and generous without the hardness or austerity of the 2015. This standout 2016 finishes long, plush and bright. With only about 5,000 bottles made, shrewd buyers will snap it up on release." -Joe Czerwinski

"From the lieux-dits of Patou, Mazard and Sauman, on granite soils. 70% destemmed and aged for 16 months in old barriques. This is denser, darker and deeper than his Granit 30, with a fruitier and more vinous expression - blackberry and plum sauce. It is fairly full-bodied but not massive, with rounded, pure and juicy fruits accompanied by ample saline tannins and zippy, citrus acidity. Buzzy, lively and very pure, this well balanced wine has great detail and definition and a very long mineral finish."
