Fifth-generation grower Champagne from Aÿ—one of Champagne's most prestigious Grand Cru villages, historically known as the "wine of kings." The Gatinois family has cultivated vines here since 1696, making them one of the region's oldest continuous grower-producers. Their Tradition Brut showcases Pinot Noir's power and depth (90% of the blend), with the chalky minerality that defines Aÿ. Aged a minimum of three years on lees, this is serious, gastronomic Champagne with substance and character far beyond its modest price point.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

AG 91
"The NV Brut Tradition Grand Cru is a pretty powerful, resonant NV offering from Gatinois. All the textural richness of Aÿ comes through in this vinous, textured Champagne. Kirsch, plum, spice and dried flowers are beautifully amplified. The Brut Tradition is 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay, with the Pinot very much driving the wine's overall profile and feel. This release is based on 2020 with 30% reserve wines from 2019 and 2018." -Antonio Galloni

Champagne

Champagne boasts some of the world’s greatest luxury brands with Krug, Cristal and, of course, Dom Perignon. But it’s also home to hundreds of small dynamic producers—farmers who grow their own grapes (often organically) and make (often with natural methods) tiny amounts of pure and absolutely delicious wine that reflect the individual personalities of their villages and terroirs. Toast with these wines, for sure. But also treat them like the great wines they are: taste, drink, explore!
