The Hubert Lignier Chambolle-Musigny Les Bussieres 2021 is a captivating wine from one of Burgundy’s most esteemed producers. Sourced from the lieu-dit Les Bussieres, located just outside the Chambolle-Musigny appellation and bordering Morey-Saint-Denis, this site is known for its clay-limestone soils that bring both richness and finesse to the wines. Hubert Lignier’s meticulous vineyard management and minimal-intervention winemaking highlight the terroir’s expressive potential, while the 2021 vintage, shaped by cooler weather, produced wines of vibrant acidity, aromatic precision, and elegant structure.

On the nose, this wine displays a delicate bouquet of red cherries, raspberries, and wild strawberries, intertwined with floral hints of violets and rose petals. Subtle notes of crushed herbs, sweet spice, and a touch of earthiness add depth and complexity. The palate is medium-bodied and silky, with fine-grained tannins and a lively acidity that balances the wine’s fruit-forward character. The finish is long and mineral-driven, with a finesse and purity that reflect its Chambolle-Musigny origins.

Presented in a 1.5L magnum, this wine is ideal for aging, allowing its layers to evolve gracefully over the next 10–15 years. It pairs beautifully with dishes such as roasted chicken with herbs, duck confit, or mushroom-stuffed pasta. The Hubert Lignier Chambolle-Musigny Les Bussieres 2021 offers both approachability and sophistication, making it a delightful choice for Burgundy enthusiasts and a fine addition to any cellar. It is a testament to the Lignier family’s artistry and the timeless appeal of Chambolle-Musigny’s elegant wines.

What importer Rosenthal Wine Merchant has to say about this wine...

Les Bussières sits just below the premier cru Les Sentiers (and just down-slope from grand cru Bonnes-Mares), hard on the border of Morey-Saint-Denis. The Ligniers exploit just under a half-hectare of vines here—a total of four parcels, planted between 1947 and 1983—and the wine they produce from here combines a classically Chambolle elegance with a certain mineral-derived strictness, a structure deriving more from intense calcareousness than overt tannins. Laurent uses just 20% new wood during the 18-month élevage.
