Antico Podere Casanova has extraordinary provenance: in 1549, Michelangelo Buonarroti himself acquired this property in Castellina in Chianti. Records show wine was sent from the estate to his Florence residence in 1551. The Bucciarelli family arrived as sharecroppers in 1926 and purchased the land they had worked for generations in 1982—the only sharecropper family in the area to achieve this. Brothers Massimo and Riccardo now manage the 5-hectare certified organic estate. This Riserva is 100% Sangiovese, spontaneously fermented in cement and aged four years in a combination of Slavonian oak and 60-year-old Tuscan casks. Intense red fruit, flowers, and spice with elegant freshness and structure. Traditional Chianti at its finest.
