Vignolo is a south-facing cru at the foot of Bricco Boschis, known for producing slightly richer, broader wines compared to Cavallotto’s other bottlings—but still with all the traditional backbone. Aged for 5+ years in large Slavonian oak and bottled without filtration, Riserva Vignolo is made only in the best vintages, and 2006 was a standout year—cool, dry, and ideal for structure and aging.
Now with nearly 20 years of maturity, this wine is entering its sweet spot: dried cherry, rose petals, leather, anise, and forest floor rise from the glass, supported by firm, resolved tannins and savory length. It’s still powerful, but now rounded and detailed, with that classic Barolo interplay of fruit, earth, and spice.
This is Barolo for purists—no new oak, no modern sheen, just time, terroir, and tradition in a bottle. Decant gently and serve with truffled pasta, roasted meats, or nothing but good company.
